Position on Sexuality
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.’”
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.’” Genesis 1:27-28a
“The Lord God said,
‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will
make a helper suitable to him. For this reason a
man will leave his father and mother and be united
to his wife, and they will become one flesh.”
Genesis 2:184
“You shall not commit adultery.”
“Marriage should
be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure,
for God will judge the adulterer and all the
sexually immoral.” Hebrews 13:4
“Do you know that
the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of god? Do
not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor
idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor
homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor
thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers
nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1
Corinthians 6:9-20
“So I say, live by
the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of
the sinful nature.” Galatians 5:15
Christians
rely on God’s revealed Word, the Bible, for
determining truth, and we look to it as our only
infallible guide for faith and action. It is our
authority for understanding the distinction between
good and evil and for determining what is moral and
immoral.
Anglican's for Life
believes that male and female alike are made in
God’s own image, and are intended by God to express
sexual love for one another only within the bonds of
the covenant of marriage.
Anglican's for Life
calls on the Anglican Church to take positions that
are consistent with Scriptural direction and affirm
only those, sexual relationships between a married
man and a woman.
God created man and woman to support and
enjoy each other in a monogamous relationship.
Christian marriage is ordained by God and designed
for three purposes. These include the mutual help
of husband and wife, the safeguarding, undergirding
and development of their moral and spiritual
character; and the propagation of children and their
rearing in the discipline and instruction of the
Lord.
Sexual promiscuity is not part of God’s
plan. Scripture condemns sexual relationships
outside marriage. Today we increasingly see the
results of sexual promiscuity and sensual idolatry
in the epidemic of AIDS and other sexually
transmitted diseases, crisis pregnancies, abortions
and pornography.
The Church can offer direction and
forgiveness for those who are sexually promiscuous.
No sin is too great for the love of Jesus Christ.
Christians are called to proclaim the truth, welcome
sinners into the family of God, and lead them to
seek forgiveness.
