What Is The Roman Catholic Church Doing?

Selling indulgences was an ingenious money-making scam set up by the early Roman Catholic Church.
“The purchase of a pardon which secured the buyer’s salvation or released the soul of another from purgatory.”**1
A person gave The Roman Catholic Pope money and God forgave him of his sins. It was a money-back-guaranteed, ticket to heaven.
Indulgences had their hay day with the sixteenth-century, gay Pope, Pope Leo X.**2 He became Pope in 1513 and is famous for his zeal at selling indulgences. In those days the governments were ruled by what was called the “established church.” It ruled every aspect of European life. People had to obey the laws of the church and pay taxes that went to the church. Whether or not they followers of the faith was irrelevant.
The church leaders peddled the story that without the church’s blessing, God would not let you into heaven. Most of the people, being uneducated and having no other source of information, believed the story. Thousands of people purchased indulgences. Leo was such a good salesman that he even gave the purchaser a piece of paper acknowledging God’s forgiveness.
Pope Leo X is also famous for sparking the wrath of Martin Luther ` who, posted his famous “95 Theses” on the church door on October 31, 1517. Luther’s theses attacked Pope Leo’s practice of selling indulgences and triggered the European revolution know as the Reformation.
**1 Accordance with Catholic teaching, purgatory (Lat., “purgare”, to make clean, to purify) is a place or condition of temporal punishment for those who, departing this life in God’s grace, are, not entirely free from venial faults, or have not fully paid the satisfaction due to their transgressions.

**2 Now we can’t say with absolute, provable certainty that Pope Leo X was a homosexual; however, when we read descriptions of naked young boys coming out of cakes at his parties, one could reasonable apply the same criteria to Pope Leo X the has been applied to former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover: “If he wasn’t gay, he certainly gave a good impression of someone who was.”

Brothers and Sisters Almighty God himself told us to judge the individual whom we are worshiping is worthy of worship or not. Irrespective of what were your parents, Ancestors and tribes are following. On the day of judgment it’s only you who will face your lord, just like you came alone and you will go alone, all your relatives such as father, mother, wife, children etc and your relationship with them will be finished once they have buried you into grave. Then no one will turn towards you. Only your deed either good or bad accompanies you.
Brother and sisters please think, Just going weekly or monthly once or twice to either church or temple is sufficient enough to worship the creator who has created us, provided food, shelter and also protecting us throughout our life, where as in comparison we spend 8 hours daily to work or to study in school, 3 to 4 hours watching T.V, playing, chatting friends etc. whereas this life is just a temporary resting place and hereafter is permanent either inform of eternal Paradise or eternal hell. Our lords command us just to pray 5 times per day for a maximum of one hour in 24 hours of a day So that we will be successful both in this world and Hereafter. , Please understand one important fact, we can only do action, reaction or result of our action is their in the hands of our creator, just submit your will to one true god and pray 5 times per day, and then your life will changed once forever and most important you will able overcome desire of life which is essence of all Evil, Both your Soul and Body will be in Peace.
Brother and Sister just think if human incarnate again after death and same life continue again and again, rich people will enjoy where as poor and middleclass people who are more than 80% of the society suffer again and again. Then what is really meaning of existence of life.
God will forgive everything except Kuffur or making partner with god in worship, such as worshiping the creation of god, like stone idols, trees, sun, moon, stars, humans and animals, so those disbelievers will go to hell forever. Suppose if you employ a person with good salary, food, shelter and car etc then if your employer yields fruits of his work for someone else, then what you do with such a dishonest person, you will severely punish and kick him from job. Similarly your creator has provided everything But Instead of worshiping him, if you are worship his creation such as stone idols, trees, sun, moon, stars, humans and animals. Justify yourself where you are going to belong whether heaven or hell.
On the day of Judgment, Almighty god will ask us, why did I have sent you to earth and what you have brought???
Almighty God has given us a superior Brain compare to all his creation, so please we have to use our intellect to best of our ability to find the truth. This is just a temporary or resting place, but hereafter is permanent.
The purpose of this video is to help Protestant Christians and others develop a better understanding of the Roman Catholic Church, its history and basic beliefs by listening to Roman Catholics tell their own story. The 35-minute program is organized into three parts: Roman Catholic beliefs, Church history, Catholic Renewal. The program includes interviews with Roman Catholic theologians, scholars, pastors and lay people. Portions of this program were recorded in Rome, Assisi, Trent and Casino, Italy. After centuries of mistrust, indifference and even hostility, attitudes between Roman Catholics and other Christians are changing. Dialogue, cooperation and understanding is healing old wounds, locally and up to the highest organizational levels. The Roman Catholic Church is the largest block of Christianity. In the US 65 million Roman Catholics are organized into 200 archdioceses and dioceses and more than 19000 local Catholic parishes. Each year over one million infants and 70000 adults are baptized in US Roman Catholic churches. Yet for all its great size, influence and long history, many non-Roman Catholics understand very little about the largest Christian denomination. www.elca.org/mosaic 800.638.3522 ext. 6009

Question by Michael G: Why was the Roman Catholic Church the most powerful religion during the Middle Ages?
During the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church was the most powerful religion. The majority of Europe during this time was Catholic. Most Catholics refer to this time as the “Age of Faith”. I preferably call it the “Age of Ignorance”. Why was the Roman Catholic Church so powerful during these times? What caused it to become this way all throughout Europe?

Most of the rulers of that time in European history were Catholic. As such the Church had considerable influence with them.

Terror and submission. The Inquisitions, the Crusades. Believe or die mentality. The church could not have succeeded in this if not for the willing participation and sanction of the ruling parties at the time. Converting the Kings and Queens allowed for an all powerful organization to control the population.
It started slowly and built up to a fervor. Once the Inquisitions and royally mandated mass conversions took place it was easy.

Because the Roman Empire had ended, and with it, the security and “normalcy” that the known world (Europe and surroundings) had clung to.
500 years after the fall of Rome, Charlemagne rose to power using the Christian faith as his sword to unite the disparate nations that had splintered off from the Roman Empire.
Pagans across Europe had seen their halcyon days co-opted by the new faith community (Christmas was Yule, a solstice celebration, Easter was Eostar, a fertility celebration–ever wonder where the eggs and bunnies came from? Pagans liked to pay attention to matters of life and death b/c they were all farmers and ranchers!!–their lives depended on a good harvest).
From there you have the reasons others have cited: wars, famine, plague, the restriction of knowledge (Did you ever see the Name of the Rose?), Inquisitions, Crusades, etc, etc, ad infinitum…
And to this day we still have leaders who keep the image of an eagle over their heads. Bush = Zeus…there’s a mind bender for ya’

With the fall of the Roman Empire there was no unifying element in Europe. The people turned to the Church as a stabilizing force. The Church took over the clerical roles left vacant by the secular authorities. They became the defacto power structure. Who was going to be in charge of repairing roads? It was left to the Church. Was was responsible for settling court cases? It was left to the Church.

There were many saints walking the earth in those days. Many conversions came from the works of these saints. Eventually the European countries adopted this faith, not by force, but by true conversion. St. Vincent Ferrer converted hundreds of thousands of souls to the Catholic faith in his lifetime. Many saints like him were miracle workers. God was very much aiding the expansion of the Roman Catholic faith during those days. The devil wasn’t as visible then as he is today.

I believe today is “The Age of Ignorance” adding to it “The Age of Heretics” and “The Age of Satan”,
Followed by:
The Age of Catholic Persecution
Followed by and in conjunction with:
Severe Wars – Famines – Earthquakes – Natural Disaters – Pestilences,
followed by:
The Age of Judgment.
Who said that the Roman Catholic Church is not powerful today?
When the scandals spread in the Church, Our Lady of Medjugorje has come to earth, in this final harvest, converting a very great number of souls, including heretics, before the last storm.

With what little I know of that period, I summize that when the Roman Empire fell, civilization was thrown into the Dark Ages. The only institution in existence that preserved order and history would have been the Catholic Church, particularly with Her literate, meticulous monks. So to call it an “Age of Ignorance” is in fact ignorant.
